Dennis Quakenbush is a life-long resident of Hamilton County. He currently lives in Cicero with his wife and four sons and is a member of Cornerstone Bible Church where he serves as a deacon. Dennis and his wife own two small businesses based in Hamilton County.
Dennis holds a master's degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University with an undergrad degree in business management. He loves learning and has attended multiple leadership courses, command training and other executive level law enforcement courses. He chose law enforcement over his corporate career because of his passion to set an example by helping others in need, treating everyone with respect and putting others first.
For the past 19 years, Dennis has been faithfully serving Hamilton County and moving up the leadership ranks within the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Dennis started his career as a dispatcher in the department’s communication division in 2002. He became a merit-deputy in 2003 and was promoted to sergeant in 2007 before being promoted in 2011 to Captain of the Patrol Division. As Captain of the Patrol Division he supervised over 60 full time deputies, administrative personnel, reserve and auxiliary officers. He was elected to serve as the sheriff of Hamilton County in 2019.
Throughout his tenure with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Dennis has served as a Supervisor for Hamilton County Crash Investigation Team, Field Training Officer and Drug Recognition Expert – all units for which he is now commander. He is a Field Sobriety Instructor and sits on the Office’s Policy Committee. He has also served as the Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement Instructor. He is currently the Hamilton County Law Enforcement Representative for Emergency Management.
During his career, Dennis has been recognized for his outstanding service and leadership as Road Officer of the Year, Merit Deputy of the Year and M.A.D.D. Award recipient.
Outside of his law enforcement duties, Dennis enjoys spending time with his family. He has previously volunteered with Little Lambs Ministries, serving in orphan camps in Ukraine on three occasions and has also served as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader.
